I've made some textures in .tga format (res=512x512 24-bit as default in Photoshop) and used the vtex.exe tool to create the .vmt and the .vtf file.
Now when I open Hammer and browse for the texture I do find it but it's displayed in a pink/black chess-board-pattern (also "ingame").
I did the same procedure on a different .tga file which came out nicely so I assume my command line arguments for vtext.exe is correct.
vtex.exe -mkdir -shader LightmappedGeneric MYDIR\*.tga
What is this pink/black chessboard-pattern? What did I do wrong?
If I browse Hammer-textures and filter for e.g. "port" I see a few pink/black images aswell that came with the sdk.
