Problem setting up server

I wanted to create a server using my home computer, so I started up HL2 DM and hit create server. It let's me pick from a list of maps, but it doesn't let me put in the max number of players. If I create a server in this manner, how many players will be the max? What determines the max players?

I thought I might solve the problem by downloading Source Dedicated Server, but alas, I was wrong. I started up dedicated server, and I was able to specify the max players, but the drop down to pick a different map was just grayed out! I know that my map folder (C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\falconoffury\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\maps) on my computer has a bunch of maps, but I can't change it from dm_lockdown. Somebody please help.

So I either can't specify the max players, or I can't change the map from dm_lockdown. Blah!

I got scene.scr and put all my settings into it, and put it in the proper folder. Upon launching the game and creating a server, I saw all the options from that file right in the GUI. It sure would have been nice for Valve to include that file with the installation!!! :flame:

Any advice on the locked map menu in Source Dedicated Server?
