Problem with Alyx

I have just bought the orange box and have come up against a problem. When I meet Alyx for the first time by the lift she talks for a short while then stands by the lift. I am under the impression she is supposed to go into the lift but she doesn't. Has anybody else had this problem and know a solution?

Then how do i start the lift moving? E doesn't work.

If talking about HL2 then yes she is supposed to go in the lift with you. It seems like a script failed to run your best is restarting. When you go in the lift stand at the back otherwise sometimes the other characters won't get on.

Never played HL2 before. Not touched in the head.

It seems it was yet another bug in the game. I solved the problem by using the skip level in the console.

Heh. Sorry to hear about that.

Getting bugs on the first playthrough can easily ruin the atmosphere/experience.

Hope you don't regret buying the OBox.

I don't regret buying it. Hopefully it will be fine after the teething troubles. So far I've had Gfx card issues (solved by installing latest 8800GT drivers), the AI disabled bug (modifying the config file solved that one) and now Alyx going to sleep on me.

Issues aside, first impressions are good. TF2 seems like a blast, maybe it will drag me away from Wolf ET. Portal made me feel sick after 10 mins of play but that was down to the new years day hangover more than anything else. HL2 itself should keep me off the streets for at least a month I think, that being the main reason for buying the orange box.
