I connected my CD rom drive and DVD rom drive to the power supply and to my motherboard using an IDE cable but they aren't being detected by my computer. I dunno what to do. Any help would be appreciated

On the back of the drives there are jumpers (plastic/metal piece that fits over 2 pins to short/connect them) on the left side of where the IDE cable goes.
Usually there is some sort of diagram labeling each setting and how to place the jumper for master or slave. You may have a instruction sheet with that info or it is on the top of the drive.
If they are on the same IDE cable, make one Master (MA) and the second a Slave (SL). If they are on different cables, you will have to check each of your drives to make sure there is only one Master (MA) and one Slave (SL) per cable.
Go through bios (usually press DEL at startup of your PC) and auto detect the drives.
If they show up there, save settings and exit and then boot windows and they should be there.
If they are not showing in bios I would unplug the IDE cable from the motherboard and put it back in to make sure its touching all pins, same with the drives.

Thanks for your help but I tried all that and it still don't work. It's not even showing any sign of being connected to my computer although I know all the cables are connected. :flame:

Is it getting power? LED light on the front of the drives turn on when you power up the PC?

Yea it's getting power. The drives even open and close. But when I insert a CD-ROM and close the CD (and DVD) drive nothing happens.

Put the drives on different cables...try that.
Mix and match the drives from how you have it setup.
Just switch one of the cdrom drives to the other IDE cable. Make sure your jumpers are correct after that.

Well I do have 2 slots on my motherboard to plug my IDE cables into. One of them (primary slot) is taken up by my harddrive and my DVD and CD rom drives are connected to the other slot (secondary). I suppose I could try switching them around but I'm afraid that my Harddrive will have the same troubles my CD/DVD rom drives are having now if I put it in the secondary slot.

Do not just switch the 2 cables where they are pluged into the motherboard but take a drive off the 2nd cable and put it on with your harddrive.
e.g. primary: harddrive (MA)/cdrom (SL)
secondary: DVD (MA)
Some optical drives do not like to be a SL or in a certain configuration so they will not work but just mix and match. Try the HDD and DVD on one cable too and the CDrom on its own if the other setup didnt work.
