Problem With Episode1

Well look, i installed hl2episode1 and when i tried to start it up it said my drivers were old so i updated and i got to the menu of the game... I get to the part of the intro video where you see the girl dodging the explosion of that building in hl2 and it crashed to desktop saying an error in IDirect3DDevice9, now... i dont know what this means or how to fix it. And ive looked it up. Did anyone have this problem and can anyone tell me how to fix it or whats wrong?

Don't use direct3D, use other 3D builder
Maybe my opinion's not so practical...

I mean use openGL. But that's probably irrelevant...

update your directx
update your windows

Maybe my opinion's not so practical...

HL2 uses DirectX only, there is no option to use OpenGL. So no, that won't work.

When you updated your drivers did you uninstall the old ones and use "Driver Cleaner" to clean any residue?

If not you are probably just having driver conflicts.
