Does anyone know how to solve this problem with the Power Up level in Half-Life?

After fixing the pump and pushing the button to turn on the power in the lower levels, I come back up to where the gargantua is. I know I'm supposed to lead him down the hall and zap him by turning on the generator but the large hallway towards the generator is closed and the gate won't open. If I remember correctly from the last few times I've played through the game this gate should be open for me to lead the gargantua down towards the generator without having to push any buttons or anything, but it stays shut and I'm stuck without being able to turn the track power on.

Is there some trigger somewhere I'm not running through? Or some task I've somehow missed preventing the doors from letting me through yet? Any suggestions?

Hmm.. the door has always beeen open for me. Maybe I'll play it through again later.

Are you sure the pump was running? All the crates were broken? And are you sure the button was switched on? You might wanna double check yourself. Or you could just line up tripmines on the concrete wall and skip the whole level like I usually do. Thats one of my least favorite levels.

yes, yes, and yes. I've done everything. Pump was running, water drained, button on, yada yada yada....... door still stuck shut :(

i guess i could just do the trip mine thing if all else fails, but then aren't i stuck in the rail level without a rail car? which is probably my least favorite level so not having to run through that thing on foot would be nice.

Or you could just skip it like a said. (note that it makes the beggining of On A Rail suck really bad unless youve got a lot of armor.

kill him with grandes , he dies after 10

yes i know, but that hardly solves the problem of turning the track power on and being able to use the rail car for the next level.

yeah, i could do this, but like i said, i hate the On A Rail level enough as it is, having to run through that level without the rail car is "hell on wheels" (without the wheels ;) )

Just no clip through and pretend like you are on a train.

figured it out

i had to get the pump going but NOT press the button above the pump to turn the power on. then the door stayed open and i was still able to turn on the generators.

weird, because i always thought you HAD to press the button in order to turn the generators on as well as open the gates to the generators.

must have been some weird bug, but all is well now :)

This happend to me once. Didn't solve the problem, and had to restart. That sucked.

That's like the third most normal bug still in Half-life.

yeah, i think it happened to me once in the old version of half-life but it was a quick fix somehow, didn't think i'd have the same problem with the steam updates.

it'd also be nice if they'd fix the damn elevator bug ... ( :stare: looking at you HL:S)

Strange, never happened to me and I've played through HL like 20 times.

God I hate the elevator bug. I always make sure to quick-save before I go on a lift!

yeah, i always do the continuous jump around on the elevator gimmick myself to avoid getting stuck.

Yeah, that elevator bug was a pain in the ass.
