problem with memorex DVD burner

every time i burn a backup disc of files, it stops at 5 minutes and says "illegal disk" but i don't know why....

Is it because the stuff that you are transferring are read-only files?

Is your DVD and Disc both Re-Writer/able?

If so, it might be because your burner is on its last legs

but that's impossible, the thing is less than 6 months old!
it's a DVD-+R, DVD R/W, CD-+R and double layer drive
