I installed some driver a while ago and when I checked it said my version is 6.14.11.6218, so I though reinstalling.
I just installed the 162.18 NVIDIA driver (linked me to it from the driver downloads in their site). And it still says that my version is 6.14.11.6218
(in device manager).
Is it how it should be ?

I'm not actually sure device manager displays the nvidia driver no, because from what i remember the number in device manager has never matched that of the nvidia control panel. You should be able to check the driver number in the nvidia control panel, or by installing riavtuner, which should tell you which driver version you are using.

Where in the control panel should it show me the driver version ?

sounds like you didn't uninstall the old one first. VERY bad thing to forget.

dont worry your driver version is fine.

6.14.11.6218

if its over 100 then your driver number will be 6.14.1X.XXXX

under 100 will be 6.14.11.XXXX

I really get confused when updating Nvidia drivers

Well why? It's just like
  • Uninstall current drivers
  • Install new drivers
Then you are done. Be happy! :D

You don't have to. :p

you don't have to put your seat-belt on in a car either, or cook chicken properly, or use protection when having sex, but sooner or later you will have major problems: all because you didn't follow the commonly accepted guidelines, and common sense.

No, on their site its something like "Version 12.6234.63643" but when Steam tells me my drivers are out of date, its like "64.523434.2231."

Something like that anyway, but it confuses me.
