Problem with two computers

Hi, i have two computers with HL2 on my network, myself and my brother both have seperate steam accounts, when we're playing cs:source we can both play on different servers at one time but when i try to join the same server as him it won't let me. Is this due to limiting of one IP per connection or something? Any help appreciated.

Many thanks,

kabome

you have to use different Ports between the two of you
i forget how this is done though.

yea that came to mind, i checked the cs source options and there's no network settings to be found there, is there a config file in the directory somewhere that might have it?

Found it!

The default clientport is 27005 and you can only have one game with that port active on the same lan.

What you need to do is go to your launch properties (do this for each computer):

steam > games > rightclick your MOD > properties > launch options

then for each one, add:
+clientport 270xx

where xx is: 05, or 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 ... etc.

(each computer must have a different clientport).

then click OK and you should be good to go.

NOTE: This solution only works if you launch the game through the "Play Games" Menu!

If there are already options in there, be sure to leave a space between the last one and the "+".

It's always nice to let people know when it works. :)

Oblivion's answer looks right.

Back when I used a router, I did the same. I always had problems refreshing my serverlist with it though. Never found an answer to that one.
