;(;(I am stuck at the fountain with Alex, Destroyer of Combines in Half Life 2. She tells me to use the grav gun to destroy the core, but she stays in the way and the grav gun does nothing. What to do?

I know where he is....hes taking down the power cell in the courtyard just before the tunnels...you have to fight off hordes of combine soldiers and then she'll tell you to fire at the combine ball hovering in the middle of that force field...it'll shoot away and you guys will get access to whats on the other side of the gates there in the Courtyard...

You have me located. Thanks. As I said Alex does not get out of the way. Where is the combine ball? Do I aim at the keyboard Alex is working on? In an earlier scene, Alex seemed to do nothing when she said she would have to work on a keyboard and asked us to watch her back. The grav gun did nothing then either. Any suggestions?

It'll be pretty obvious...its in a short tower right next to the console she is working on...when the ball is to be fired, you'll see it bouncing straight up and down inside a blue transparent force field thing...just left click your grav gun to free it...

Thank you, Ridge, I'll look for that. I have restarted the area, and am now about to re-enter the fountain square. I'll post a note if all works well.

Yeah it is also possible Alyx (not Alex) glitched, it has happened to me before.

Remember that there are two shields for that ball, an outside and an inside. When the outside is gone you can see the ball but you can't detach it yet, you have to let the second go down as well. Maybe that's what happened? You didn't wait long enough?
