Problem

I just recently reinstalled BF2 just because I wanted to play it again. I installed the 1.41 patch but when I launch the game it goes to a black screen. If i alt-tab out I can see a box saying "Error!" but if i try to click it, it goes back to the black screen. I don't know whether to try and reinstall or what should I do. I had this same problem a while back after I reinstalled the game and it got fixed but I don't know how.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 GHz
ATI 2600 PRO (driver updated Jan 13)
Windows XP

Not to my knowledge. Do you know the name(s) of such programs?

Nevermind I fixed it. Turned out it was a problem with the DX10 hack i downloaded when trying to get Far Cry 2 to work. I removed Direct X from my system then reinstalled it. Works like a charm.
