Pentium 4 - 3 ghz
ATI 9800 pro
1 gig ram
80 gig hard drive

With these specs I should have a fairly smooth HL2 game, right. I am having real problems with stuttering and sound looping in Anti Citizen and beyond. It also has a delay if I can discribe it that way. Not a stutter but almost a very small pause as I am running or going up steps, etc. What is causing this? Any thing I can do. It is really annoying and I thought my computer and vid card was fast enough to handle the game. I have adjusted my video settings lower and higher in HL2 and still the same. Any thing I can do, tweaks or such that would help. I am a newbie so be gentle.

When was the last time you updated the drivers for your graphics card?

What kind of sound card do you have, is it onboard?

On board MSI sound card. Never had problems with it. Realtek drivers on it I think.
I thought of the Video driver thing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers just to see if that was it. Nope it was not.
