I bought HL2 and installed it and it works fine, however, It won't run from another users (My Dads) account, he has created his own steam account, but when he opens steam it says we must buy the game. It will run on my steam account from his user area, but i don't want to lose my saves if he does this, any advice?

The game is bound tothe account you first registered it to. Use the same account in both cases.

You're worried about losing your saves? So he's using the same computer then?

sigh...this is why Steam needs a user profile system :frown:

Anyway, he will have to use your Steam account to play the game as it is registered to and can only be played on your account.

You can keep his and your saved games separate by having two different 'SAVE' folders, and having only one of them in the game directory at a time, swapping the folders each time you want to use your own.

The location would be something like C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steamapps\(youraccount)\half-life 2\hl2\SAVE\

The easiest way to set it up would be to have 3 things on your desktop or somewhere: A folder for you, a folder for your dad, and a shortcut to the hl2 directory. Keep each of your own SAVE folders in your spot and remember to re-copy them after you've made any progress, and to swap them before you start playing.

Of course, if he's not using the same computer then you don't need to worry about losing your saves at all, but he still needs to log in with your account in order to play.
