i need a program that can watch cs demo movies outside of cs, i tried geekplay but it kept coming up with an error saying the file directory that i configured it for, and for rewelator it keeps telling me to debug it. If there isnt a prog that works is their a video capture prog that can handle capturing a demo, i use camtasia, but it doesnt seem to work very well.

I have to disagree with that Simon, I used it and it sucked pretty bad... Camtasia Studio 2 works brilliantly.

Heh was either going to suggest Camtasia or Fraps, but he said Camtasia didnt work well.
I dont even use any, I just hear things though word of mouth and reputation.

when i use camtasia i get an error that the game cannot run in the current mode, it will now switch to software render, which blows, so if i want to record with camtasia i need to run cs on the software render, fraps was a little better, the end result was a little laggy, but that might have just been because i had been playing vid games like non stop for 2 days and my video card was out of memory.

Fraps Is teh haxx. Seriously though, It opens up Internet explorer everytime I watch a demo. I hate IE and when I uninstall it it tries to make me install it. bastards!

wow where the **** did u get ur fraps

fraps doesnt play.dem files does it ??:S

skplayer.... only one i know of i tihnk it plays them tho it might jsut open up cs and then play it

Can Camtasia record actual games? For me at least it just records the desktop - is there anyway I can set it up so it records gameplay?

EDIT: Nevermind, I can get it record games now, only when it's compressed I have to play at 2fps and the playback is the same (I set it to record to 30), and when it's uncompressed I can play it fine, but the playback again is really choppy.

EDIT again: Which codec is the best for recording games? There's loads :O

yeah it doesnt even work for me, and with fraps the vid is like 200 mb for a 2 min clip, and to get it to be smaller than 150mb it will have to look like s h i t.

Camtasia works great. I made a little machinima with a game and it worked fine, with good file sizes. I don't know what codec I used or anything, I left all that junk alone.

Best way to capture video is record the demo and playback on all features while filming in Fraps... on-the-fly filming in fraps gets horrible framerate
