Well ok the war itself is a great example of both sides ignring facts but there's actual scientific proof that partisan politics leads to ignoring facts:

'With their minds made up, brain activity ceased in the areas that deal with negative emotions such as disgust. But activity spiked in the circuits involved in reward, a response similar to what addicts experience when they get a fix.'

"None of the circuits involved in conscious reasoning were particularly engaged," Westen said. "Essentially, it appears as if partisans twirl the cognitive kaleidoscope until they get the conclusions they want, and then they get massively reinforced for it, with the elimination of negative emotional states and activation of positive ones."

probably why I have such a hard time convincing some of you of facts ...and no I'm not partisan, I hold no allegiance to either party

1. # Devoted to or biased in support of a party, group, or cause: partisan politics.

my beliefs are my own, not someone elses ..I've been saying what I've been saying for over a decade

OFF TOPIC: is that guy in your avatar from heavymetal?

This also means stern ignores facts too and has biased opinions...interesting.

Sorry...had to say it.

you people are so frustrating ...do you even know what partisan politics means?

if you can dig up even one fact around the war that I ignored I'll eat my words

Getting frusterated because people dont agree with you?

oh shut up and either stay on topic or get out ...churchy :E

Are you talking about American Democrats and Republicans or Dems and Reps in general?

I'd say that he is speaking about the americans when this really should be more general

Well..what do you think Partisan means?? The meaning itself means to ignore everything that is not to their point of view.

the article points to studies done on american republicans and democrats ..so ya

i think the whole partisan thinking thing can apply to alot more than just rep. vs dem. It can easily apply to any series of strongly held beliefs. It affects everyone, even stern, though he doesn't know it yet.

I did not realize this before in my life. It is not an obvious fact or anything. :|

heh yes but this is to just confirm a long standing belief by reinforcing it with science

I have to agree though, Dems and Reps these days are basically 2 school children yelling "no you're stupid" at eachother over and over.
