Techincally he's still right. Noob is a correct answer.

yes but it's not really a word and he lost 2 marks for it .. guess the teacher was looking for "con"

Perhaps Amatuer or Novice would have passed?

Stern is probably right though, they don't usually abbreviate words in tests.

I wouldn;t say it makes you a dumb student so much as it just generally makes you completely and utterly retarded

And he didn;t get marked down 2 points, that is clearly a question mark

for me on my tests back in HS/College, a question mark usually meant 2 marks were deducted. :)

Reaktor4 is right - it's a prefix. Christ, the person marking that needs some spelling lessons. 'Hopefull'? 'Live' is not the opposite of 'Death', either.

I didnt notice the "-"

the other words in the test arent prefixes either:

hopeless
careful

it just asks for opposites so if the "-" wasnt there the correct answer is "con" :E

nah, i'd put N@@B :P
I dont think "dumb" is the right word, its just your vocabulary changes :P

I would have gave him credit for that. Noob is diffrent from Pro.

You can tell by the - that it is a prefix. I'd say the teacher is a noob at correcting.

Then what did you just type? :O
That wasn't my point technically n00b is a word but no one will take the kid seriously if he uses the word n00b when he gets a job.

does l33t mean something? and I 'm not going to apologise for my ignorance in this case.
