...ummm yay!? (I'm kidding)

k not a big fan of our Prime Minister Steven Harper but that's just a little bit on side of batshitinsane (as Rakurai puts it)

the Metro said:
One of 17 men accused of plotting bombings in major Canadian cities and of training militants also faces an allegation that he sought to behead Prime Minister Stephen Harper, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

Allegations include plans for the "storming and bombing of various buildings," Batasar told reporters

the buildings included the Canadian Parliament in ottawa (17 instantly dead terrorists gunned down by rcmp) and the CBC ..the cbc? wtf were they thinking?

Looks like beheading has become the Islamic Extremist's new favourite pastime. I wonder how they thought they would actually manage to do it...

Plastic Knife.

That's some crazy stuff. Lucky we read about this story, and not the story of it actually happening, eh?

With either a saw or an axe, I imagine.

I phrased that badly: I meant I wonder how they thought they would be able to get close enough to cut his head off, withgout being shot to pieces by mounties.

Let's hope nothing more like this happens. At all

My speculation is that they couldn't really run at him with a sword. It'd probably have to be a kidnap and execution plot maybe?

Suicide Bombing more then likely. Beheading is more of a statement to incite terror and rage; and to also blind the mind from what the terrorists were up against to even commit an operation like that.

They want you to 'think', they could do it. Because, if they did have that capability, I wonder what caused the hiccup for them not too ...?

Over here(London) we had a police raid at the weekend. A man was shot and the papers were full of "terrorist chemical bomb threat" type headlines.
It seems the police acted on very sound information that muslim extremists were planning another attack, and in the dawn raid a man struggled for possesion of a policemans weapon and was shot and injured.

So far , so good.

Fast forward a couple of days and the picture isnt quite as comforting.
There is no chemical weapon.
Police admit that there information was at fault, but insist they had to act anyway.
I know its only a botched bit of intellegence, but I felt that one small phrase needed to be injected into the various threads that this story has generated; innocent until proved guilty.

Massacre?

And I thought it was 19 people?

Or is this a different group?

If they were gunned down how could they have been interviewed?

Eh, wait a minute. Reading article.

Confused by your post. I don't see anything significant other than evidence is classified.

I think they were planning to abduct the guy before, you know, beheading him.
That's the usual strategy.

Aw, you said the joke before I could. :p

Sounds like some really half-assed 24 plotline.

Too bad they neglected to consider The Canadian Jack Bauer.
yeah, he's probably the one that foiled the whole plot
thata boy jacky

yuch, I'd expect other countries to be target before Canada. :S
Ah well, GJ @ Canada they foiled this. Would have been an ugly mess otherwise. :p

while I agree (that's why I put "prosecution" in the title) ..the beheading statement comes from the defense lawyer of the person accused of plotting it (he didnt confirm or deny his clients innocence but that isnt evidence in itself) ...however there is some talk of innocent people being swept up in the dragnet ...nothing is written in stone at this point because the press is barred from precedings and the defense hasnt presented it's response to the prosecution yet ....most of what we're hearing is media speculation based on charges laid by the crown ..more will come out in the preliminary hearing

mecha: Johnny retired only to be replaced by the Captain ...actually I dont believe Johnny Canuck retired ..I suspect he's actually this guy

People my like to make fun of the mounties, but they doa damned good job when they are needed. I'm not a fan of Harper, but it would have been a terrible blow to recieve.

Only thing saving the Canucks is their glorious Kroff Dinner!... Terrance & Phillip, too, of course.

So what? Should I pretend the attack never happened and therefore my thoughts are void just because the forum is old? Nobody else cares

what's to pretend? the attack never happened

You monster! I come in here thinking its a new thread, I read down a couple of lines and I saw Mechagodzilla and I was happy, but NO, it ended up being a thread revival, I'm going to go cry now.

Oh god what have I done?!

/grabs remaining hope and runs, never to return

How do you... how do you ****ing not know that you're reviving an old thread?

because a day doesnt go by that someone doesnt threaten to decapitate the canadian Prime Minister ..so you can understand why he got the days confused
