jeez the EB at the Eaton centre in toronto is probably their biggest store (in terms of number of visitors) ..the eaton centre (a shopping mall) is designated as a tourist atraction because it's right in the heart of downtown toronto ..if they didnt get many ps3's that has to say something about the ps3's availability

Allocation disaster? More like the employee's just held one off to the side for themselves and call it 'lost'....so that they can sell it on ebay the next day for 8 thousand dollars.

PS3 = disaster

It won't stop people buying it but people are stupid. Hopefully there'll be enough intelligent ones to give Sony a bloddy nose for treating the consumer like shit

No manager is going to believe a PS3 was "lost".

That is so poor.

The Wii is clearly the winner in terms of actually producing a hell of a lot of units compared to this and the X360.

ouch

I read somewhere that a few ps3's have been turning up in a few japanese stores as a resale item and that the prices have dipped to almost on par with the retail in some cases ..and they only had 80,000 at launch

They're all stored in my potato cellar, along with all the extra unsold copies of Daikatana.

Ugh, who cares?? Its not like there are such fabulous games out for it now to justify the purchase anyway! Maybe by the time some better games are due out they will know how to meet the hardware demand....

in my town with about 85000 people the stores had

Futureshop: 10-60gb / 5-20's
Walmart: 15-60bg / 5 20's
London Drugs 4 60's / 1 20
ebgames 10-60's 3-20
toyrus 15-60's but went all to staff. 0 20's

and where i work, cost was what we were selling them at.

PS3 is going to fail miserably.

And I'm going to celebrate.

It's not that I hate the playstation... I loved the playstation 2. However, I hate Sony, and I hate all the shit they've done recently, regarding the playstation 3, and in their other areas of gaming.

Yeah, I've been unusually happy about all the mess-ups over the last few days with the PS3. I've not been happy with the killings and the muggings, but it... ah, it's hard to explain, but it pleases me that the PS3 is making a bad impact compared to others. It's horribly petty of me, I know, but I really do not the Playstation and Sony.

Dont say shit like that without knowing wtf your talking about.
Our GameSTop was promised 14 we only got 7. or something along those lines.Nobody is "putting them aside".

Well you can't say Nobody is putting them aside. I'm sure there are certain cases where this has happened. This happened at my local Wal-mart when the Xbox 360 was launched.

Someone I was talking to (IRL) works at a game store and he and one of his coworkers put 2 PS3s 'to the side' for themselves so I do have an idea of what I'm talking about. And why assume that 'nobody' is putting them aside? I think the prices these things are getting on ebay would convince quite a few people in that situation to do the same..

Even if they would hold back 1-2 consoles for themselve, that wouldn't count for the rest of the 'missing stock'
