Hey gang,

Just had a thought cross my mind. Ive got around 12 games I want to trade-in when I get back to the UK this weekend, will probably give GAME or CEX a visit (CEX more likely).

But Ive just remembered; a long time ago when I traded in my 360 for my PS3, Halo 2 was in my game collection.
GAME wouldnt add it to the trade-in list as, quite simply, the bar code on the box wouldnt register when scanned, and they realised it was an import from Sweden or something. I think I bought it from Amazon marketplace.

So its got me thinking; 8 of the games I want to trade-in were bought in South Africa over the xmas that has just passed.

Im assuming the bar codes for the PS3 games will be the same around the world?

Its no real biggy as the majority of the trade-in value goes to the 4 games bought in the UK.

Just wanted to know.

I wouldn't know, here foreign games are accepted on the guidelines that any English speaking person could effectively use the game. I traded in a game from the US and they slapped on their own barcode then and there.

Unsure how it'd affect you, generally games stores are smarter than that.

They can probably just type the name of the game into the computer. You might have to mention it, since the person there may have never done that before.

Anyway, at game traders here, they don't even need the box. You can trade in just the disc, and they deduct about $1 or something.

They could also simply scan the box of the game from one they have on hand. So if you're trading in HOOKER KILLER 3 but it won't scan, they can scan the box of one they have in the store.

Ahhh of course, they could just chuck the box and scan a box they have.

The games are still the English versions, its not like theyre the SA versions.

I guess at worst they could go in the back and check the game discs are legit.
