well I may be late to the party with this one but this is one less reason to use my xbox now. I'm fairly confident this will look better than on my Xbox because my PS3 is hooked up through HDMI. also I'm wondering if the slow download speeds on the PS3 will be an issue. I know PS3's servers are kinda shit right now....and I can't imagine Netflix helping with more people online soon.

You need a disc for this? Anyway really cool feature now if only netflix came to the UK:hmph:

I think its a joke, but let me try clicking it....and its for REAL! this is what i get now:

why can't they just let you download a patch to play this like xbox?? dumb!

Adding to Netflix's impressive list of supported hardware will soon be Sony's PS3, joining Microsoft's Xbox 360 which has had Netflix streaming for a year now with great success.

But it's not all good news, as the PS3's Netflix functionality will not be built into the console, but rather, only accessible through a Blu-ray disc. Users will first have to insert the special disc and then access Netflix using Blu-ray's BD-live functionality. While other Blu-ray players that use this method often produces a clunky user experience, it should work better on the PS3 as does most Blu-ray movies due to the more powerful processor and improved response speeds.

The PS3 Netflix service, via the Blu-ray disc, will be available at the end of the year. Users can already reserve their copy of the disc right now.

Netflix on the 360 is pretty awesome. Its cool that the ps3 is getting it, but i cant see myself actually using it over the 360 due to the whole needing a disk thing.

i think its situational. some will use the PS3 like myself because of the addition of HDMI, and others will use the 360 because of the easiness of it

I won't use either as I do not watch moves.

The only movie I watch is Top Gun and I have that on DVD.

and MGS4

I have my 360 connected via HDMI so :P

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Looks pretty awesome, might want to reserve my disk, also.

Does it stream movies or what?

Is it world wide? Or just America?

Awesome person of the day reward right there.

Anyway, yay Netflix, though when I used to subscribe, most of the stuff you could stream was pretty shit. You had to go through the mail to get the good stuff.

(and how does PS3 being connected to HMMI figure in... just move the cable over to the Xbox? Hello? I thought for sure my Xbox HDMI cable was just a standard ol' HDMI cable...)

That's strange, considering I saw an article about Netflix staying only on the xbox. I wonder what caused them to switch.

The streaming content is compressed compared to what is on DVD/Blu-ray so quality could be lower than a disc (regardless of resolution). Regarding Netflix's streaming service to PCs looks like it is based on network speed. So I doubt HDMI vs component would make a difference with that kind of content.

yeah i usually get 3/4 bars which is decent enough. 720p is good enough. when i'm watching any show it looks dvd quality. but when i watch stuff on the PS3, even burned movies they look a hell of a lot better through HDMI thank through the Xbox's Component cables

Earlier Xboxs dont have HDMI outputs, so not everyone can use a HDMI cable with their xbox.
