PSP Blues

So I got the PSP, and I really like it but I have a problem.

I also bought a 512 MB memory card when I got the unit because I wanted to save a bunch of MP3s on it. Well, when I look at the main memory menu it says the card only has 467 MB free, even though I have not saved a single solitary file onto the card yet. For some reason I'm missing 50 MB. I took it back to the shop and they said that it's normal to have some memory missing.

But 50 MB? Seems fishy to me. Anyone care to enlighten me here?

Stick the card in your card reader/psp, and in My Computer right click on it and click format.

Hmm.....in the instruction manual it says not to do that because it could make the card unreadable by the PSP.....is that true?

i think that is true because if u fully format a cd it will make unwritable but i dont think it would take 50mb

I don't have a PSP, but from what I gather, you can format it from the unit itself.
