PSP launching March 24

Finally ! a confirmed release date !

Sony will only sell the PSP as part of a single-SKU "Value Pack" for $249 in the US, CDN$299 in Canada. The new price point is $50 higher than the $199 many industry analysts predicted; that was based on the PSP's Japanese MSRP of 19,800 yen (approximately $185).

Might be, I can't wait for this because I want some new games to be released. I have already got my PSP muahahahaha

The game names are odd... Metal Gear Acid ? Ape Escape ? hmm....
 
I dont care about the release date...$250 for a handheld???? NO WAY! I was going to get a PSP, now I'm sticking with my DS.
 
$250 LOL whats wrong with that. I payed £200 ($400) for mine and I got it about 3/4 weeks ago. Imo its definatly worth it and I can bet your socks that it won't be sold at $250 on the opening day. They did it in Japan, it was on sale for about $300 but as soon as it came to the day it was released they upped the price and charged people more.

Well im most certainly getting one, this is what comes with it

A 32MB Memory Stick Duo, headphones with remote control, battery pack, AC adaptor, soft case, and cleaning cloth. In addition, a movie/music/game sampler UMD disc with non-interactive demos.
 
Thats a boatload of cash for a handheld. If I get it....I'll be a waiting for a serious price drop.

By the time that happens my guess is that the GameBoy Evolution will be out. Portable GameCube supposedly using the same media and everything. Who knows. Speculation.

If someone wants to spend $250 for it and sell it to me for $150....well...I'm open to it.

I join Vigilante in saying: "Because it's a handheld". The're asking only $50 less than what was originally asked for the PS2. That's excessive. I'm sure it's a powerhouse of gaming delight, but the DS is $150 and although the catalogue isn't quite large yet....I consider it a steal after playing it. I cannot possibly view the PSP as being worth $100 more....even after playing it for about 13 hours or so. I played Vampire Chronical and Ridge Racer.
 
Lumines is sweet though :)

Shame about Metal Gear Acid :/

(not many promising titles in that list - but that's something that's bound to change soon)
 
Yeh - it looked neat, but reviews are suggesting otherwise (especially the Edge 6/10)

I'm sure it's pretty fun, but doubt it's the uber system seller many were hoping for (being a card battlesystem and MGS fan i'm quite dissapointed)

Nah Ridge Racer seems to be the seller right now. Quite a tame selection of release titles imho. Even heard that the real Solid Snake ain't in MGA either. Some other dude who look alike :) Kojima is dead if it's true ;)
 
Anyone got any reviews for psp games?
I want to see them so i can choose 3 games for my thinggy :D

Definately check out Lumines :) (i'm begining to sound like a brocken record)
 
well my 3 main games for the moment are :

Metal Gear Acid
NBA street
T.H.U.G 2 remix

my three future games are:

GTA
Devil May Cry
GT4

i've got to say psp has got some sweet games comin up. i just hope gta will be 3d and free roaming :)
 
and I thought 150 was a ripoff for the ds....

Your loss ;)

Some see a 'lame' tetris clone. I see Rez in puzzle form. Gaming meets music meets light show.

It's the only original launch title on the PSP - and ideally suited to gaming on the move.

Edge gave it 8/10 btw (along with Ridge Racer, the other title worth owning at the moment. imo of course)

not sure it was just announced but no screenshots apparently its half done already
