[br]Straight forward post below - Creativity level: 0.[br]Finally, the long-awaited platformer developed by Double Fine Productions, Psychonauts,
is now available via Steam! Here's a mildly original and amusing PR sheet for everyone to enjoy...
EDISON, NJ, October 11, 2006 - Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: COOL), an innovative provider of digital entertainment products, and Valve announce Psychonauts is now available on Steam, the leading online platform for PC games, for $19.99.[br]Psychonauts is Double Fine Productions' critically acclaimed, mind-bending comedic action / adventure about a young circus performer's desperate quest to save a summer camp for psychics from a mysterious, brain-stealing lunatic. Created by industry veteran Tim Schafer, designer of classic games such as Full Throttle and Grim Fandango, Psychonauts has received numerous awards, including game of the year from Eurogamer and, last week, the prestigious BAFTA.[br]"So for the press release. uh. man, it's tough because every single 'steam' related play on words has already been done," said Schafer. "Double Fine and Valve: With a love this hot, you know there's gotta be STEAM! How about that?"[br]Not content to simply craft a stunning play on words about Valve's full-featured broadband platform for the delivery and management of games, Schafer ordered award-winning cartoonist and Psychonauts art director Scott Campbell to create a special comic commemorating the warm digital relationship between Double Fine and Valve. The impressive result is available here:[br]http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/promotional/ValvePlusDoubleFine1000.jpg
For the rest of the mumbo jumbo, uninteresting text in the PR sheet, click here.[br]The price: $19.95USD. The place: Steam. Clicking the header above will redirect you to, what else, the purchasing page.[br]Enjoy!

I got it for the X-Box and it is amazing I don't think i will bother with the PC version but if you guys havent played it and got $20 laying around I would highly recommend getting it.

I wonder, how many more mediocre games can we expect to see on steam?

I played the demo way back when and didn't like it too much I thought the controls were pretty bad.

BUT it is made by the same guy as Grim Fandango (one of the best video games ever made) so I may end up picking this up somewhere down the track when I have some spare money.

Tim Schafer made it.
If you don't own it, now is your chance to purchase it.
If you don't know who Tim Schafer is, you fail at being a gamer.

Finally. A single player game on Steam better than HL1 and HL2. If you haven't played it, I HIGHLY recommend it. Especially since platform games are HARD to come by on PC.

This is the first time I see a press release like this. There's cetrainly something about this game :D

Superb, played a demo and loved every second of it, just never got around to buying it.... until now!

Steam is a great way for these acclaimed but undersold games to get to those that missed them first time around.

What next I wonder?
My vote's with Giants: Citizen Kabuto or whatever it was called. Amazing game, and I'd certainly buy it again if it was on Steam just for the convenience of it.

Are you reading Gabe?

Cheers,
Krusty

TwwIX? BURN. BURN UNTIL YOUR FESTERING HATRED OF THE MOST EXCELLENT GAME PSYCHONAUTS IS EXTINGUISHED FROM YOUR VERY SOUL. [1]

[1] Yes, I know burning does not extinguish things. Shut up.

I'd heard a lot about Psychonauts, but never got around to renting it or anything. I didn't even know there was a PC version until the news that it was going to be released on Steam.

Downloading it now.

Mediocrity comes in many forms.

Like your posts?

And not like Psychonauts?

I feel kinda bad about insulting people just for not liking Psychonauts but on the other hand it is Psychonauts and people have done far worse for far stupider reasons.

Come on guys, this is petty  Welcome back the newsposting! Thick and fast :D

I've never played this game before, but it being platform is something different on steam and i'm going to check it out. There seems to be alot of recommendations here too.

I played the game on xbox is very fun and very good

OMG, a Giants: Citizen Kabuto revive would pwn everything.

Except 32-Player Mortal Pong, maybe.

Same here. It's not just really quite good - it's the most brilliant game ever. In all directions. AND THE LAST LEVEL IS A CIRCUS MADE OF MEAT.

I mean, seriously. Have you ever in your pre-Psychonauts days thought of a Circus made of meat? And that comic. It was so cool. ><

I wonder, how many more mediocre games can we expect to see on steam?

The game has an average review rating of 89.6% based off of 44 pro game review sites. (game rankings). If that's mediocre..you can't get out much.

I bought this game a while while back and although the keyboard controls can be a little fiddly, it's a quality piece and both very funny and very enjoyable.

My god, this is such a beautiful game in every possible way. Thinking about it just brings tears in my eyes, I had such an amazing time playing it. I cherish every moment I spent in that game. It's not for everyone, but at 20,- it's not going to be a big regret even if you do not like it.

Just bought it, looks fun. And my xbox360 broke down yesterday so I need something to keep me busy ;)

It's even better than I remembered! (Having played the demo before) My only gripe is the mouse control - at best it feels sluggish and unresponsive, at worst it feels several layers removed from the movement it causes on screen. It's not really impacting the gameplay as it has more effect on the menus but eh, that's really my biggest criticism. It's ace!

With so many positive things said about this game I'll have to buy it...after I get a little fed up with DEFCON ;)...But I'll defenitly buy it. Love how steam backs up these original games. THere's no need for activision and COD to join the STEAM-games. I want steam to be a platform for independent and original games....

Yaaah...
