This video was made by me to summarize an experiment and also to bring it to a public video format.

And be sure to vote in the poll so I can see some quantitative results. I doubt it will work on many of the people here due to the general nature of PC forum users - if you reply in the thread with what you did think of, please use spoiler tags.

i knew hearts was being forced, but the first time i watched i thought of 4 and didn't see any hints at it until re watching.

banacheks "psychological subtleties" has some similar force principles

edit: did anyone else notice that a queen is apparently picked often, of numbers 1-10 i would never think of "queen"

25% isn't too bad considering it's an online video and probably most people here will know what to expect. To get an idea of the suggestion versus probability the results should be 2.5%

I remember there was something where you had people pick a color and tool and almost everybody chose "red hammer"...even I picked it.

The stupid thing is people take pride in being 'different' and not thinking what they're supposed to think, so when I'd ask people to take the same test they'd always take 12 minutes to think and respond with "Cerulean miter box" or some stupid answer...and when you told them that most people said "red hammer" they get this big stupid grin on their face as they think "omg i'm so unique and different and nobody can figure me out, so that must mean i'm so deep and complex, ya i'm awesome!"

You thought that yourself though didn't you? Unless you actually know that by looking at someone. But yeah, not many people are unique.

not really, I had more of an interest into how the test was laid out, since obviously it played a part in getting people to think of 'red hammer', and I did fall for it.

And it's pretty obvious for these types of questions when somebody is trying to beat it.

I mean I stopped doing card tricks at parties because of people like that. I'd fan the deck out and say "pick a card" and they'd say, "give me the deck and I'll pick one", and depending on the trick I was doing sometimes that was okay, so I would hand them the deck and they'd pick one. They'd give me the deck back and I'd fan it again and say "put the card back in the deck" and they'd say..."give me the deck and I'll put it back in" or you'd start to shuffle the deck and they'd say "okay, now let me shuffle it" I mean basically the person wants you to do a magic trick where you NEVER even touch the deck.

It's almost like people believe that you're actually trying to convince them magic is real and they're trying to prove to you it isn't real or something. It's a freaking card TRICK. There's obviously something TRICKY that I do for it to work.

and the same with these types of 'tests'...you'd ask them "now think of a color" and you'd see them put 2 and 2 together and understand that you're going to tell them the color they think of, so they go out of their way to pick the most obscure color they could think of.

I guess I'm a little ranty today, I've just had bad luck with people and these types of things.

No, it did not work. Not becuase I took the test and it didn't work mind you, but because I suck for not having broadband. :dozey: Judging from the poll results though, I'm gathering it was a waste of time anyways. :|
