Once in a while (once every few months), I get these pulsating headaches that utterly irritate me and disable me from doing anything productive.

Not consistent, happens periodically (several seconds to few minutes).

A single point (very small area) on the head at a time (spots sometimes vary, but usually the same spot throughout the whole shitfest), and lasts for a split second, only to dissipate short after.

It I were to describe the pain, its like a vein popped, except in my head.

Anyone know what the hell it is? Had it throughout my life. Is it just an odd form of nothing out of the ordinary headache?

i would at bare minimum check WebMD or something. it may be signs of a stroke or something. helplife2.net may not be the best place to start though

Inflated sinus would be my bet. Seek medical help.

Apparently, webMD says a normal migraine can be pulsating on a single side of the head, which is what it seems to be.

I guess its a very low level of a migraine?

The internet is the very last place you should look for medical advice, unless you want to develop serious hypochondria. Just go see a doctor, it's probably nothing.

Going to the doctor for a headache/migraine will probably cost him 50-100 bucks for pretty much no rendered service and unfortunately result in a larger headache.

Thank you! people need to stop calling for medics for every little problem

Good god I pity you Americans. A checkup like that would set me back $20 at most at my local GP, which is nearly half that in US$. :/

Paranoia isn't always a bad thing, mind you. If it's occuring frequently and you think it might be a problem, then it might be worth the cash for some peace of mind.

I was feeling some pretty intense pain in my testicles at one point in time many years ago, for no apparent reason.

So we went to the doctor and paid... I dunno what it was, $50-75 co-payment on my dad's insurance plan... and the doctor felt my testicles for five seconds and said, "Looks like you have an inflammation" And then he told me to take some Aspirin.

$50-70 dollars co-pay?! Shit son that's some bad insurance. That's some TERRIBLE insurance.

Better than no insurance though. Last no-insurance hospital visit I had set me back $1200 out of pocket and all they told me was "Take some ibuprofin." $17 ibuprofin I didn't even need a prescription for.

You're telling me.

Another time I went to the same Doctor... for a case of what turned out to be Walking Pneumonia that I got from a couple hours of working assembling some dusty metal shelves at a job at Zales HQ. I'm thinking he's either a really good doctor because he knows what he sees immediately, or a really bad doctor... because he listened to my breathing and then told me I had walking pneumonia and prescribed two antibiotics for me to go buy that ended up costing about 120 bucks at the pharmacy, not counting the copay at the doctors.

<grunts>

The two-three hours they had me working to assemble all those shelves that seemed innocent at the time, ended up costing me more money than they were paying me by far, not counting all the days I had to be home and not working at that time.

The worst thing about that is, the price you're paying for just one doctor's visit, you can't even really afford a second opinion. Maybe it wasn't even walking pneumonia, but it's hard to argue because of your wallet.

whens the last time you had rigorous exercise?? also in Cali, you guys are going through some weird weather changes, that could be affecting a lot of systems in your body

Oh right, the whole health-insurance shit.

Sucks like.

If you cant afford it stop worrying about it or pressure your senator or whatever to vote for UHC.

If you can afford it, go to the doctor and get checked out, probably nothing serious, and it'll put your mind at ease as well as maybe even see those annoying headaches stopped.
