Purchases made on VAC-banned accounts
Note: if your Steam account was banned by VAC, if you purchase one of the HL2 packages on the same account, you will still not be able to play Counter-Strike: Source on any secure servers until the ban expires.

It's the account that's banned, not the cd-key you registered to it.

You can make a new account and make your HL2 purchase on that account, and play on secure servers. (unless of course you get caught cheating again...).

No i dont cheat so im not worried.

I wasnt aware that account bans 'expire'. I thought they were perminatly disabled.

I think anyone who cheats on an online game should be banned outright and not allowed to play any other games by that company.

But I guess valve like £££ alot.

Well, they shouldn't when they weren't cheating to begin with. I got kicked for "cheating" by a little 10 year old kid in TFC, and now I can't play on secure servers. It's been like this for...gah, maybe 2 years? I've even pleaded to VALVe, and never got so much as a reply saying "No." back from them. For all I care, I'll be buying the retail HL2 when it comes out, just in spite of VALVe.

lol darksonic ur full of shit. only VAC can ban u from secure servers not some '10 year old kid'. u were obviously cheating.

VAC bans usually last for a year or so at least

Just don't cheat, that's the simplest solution.
