Q&A: Quake Wars: ET

Yeah Wolfenstien ET is the my favorite multiplayer game of all time. I just hope the vehicles won't ruin Quake Wars (idiots camping vehicle spawns).

I so hope its coming in June :(
I really want to play this game.

was going to ask if there was any new's on the release date, but i guess we will find out at E3, its that time of year again i love so much, pre E3!! :D

It doesn't work battlefield style like you're thinking...You call in a request and it gets dropped off by helicopter/transport plane. You can't camp a spawn that doesn't exist.

new Q & A + screens

that looks freakin massive

I like how the scale is looking in that screenshot, Stern.

Glad I picked up that other 512mb stick of ram last week. hehe.

i can see infantry being VERY underpowered in this game - wait and see I guess

the soldier on the right looks like he's carrying futuristic C4 ...bye bye leviathan :)

This game looks very much like bf2 w/mechs. Which is being made btw.
I hope they will turn my fears to shame.

this game was in development 2 years before BF2 was released ...so no

Haha he looks like he just saw the huge mech and went D:

xD

Looking forward to this game though. Should be good fun.

how do you figure? are you suggesting the guys from splash damage (UK) met with the guys from DICE and when they werent looking searched through reams of documents till they found a design document detailing a game that wasnt even in the works yet? Battlefield 2142 isnt the first mech game with vehicles ya know. In fact Spalsh damage started development on the game BEFORE rtcw: et was released back in 2003. But if you have compelling proof they lifted their game ideas from DICE by all means share it with us

???
I'm not suggesting sd "stole" anything from anyone. I'm saying this game looks like bf2 "with mechs". Which, in my book, is very much not a good thing.

^ the man has a point - there isnt much else to differentiate this
Planetside had it as well - i'm banking on Armed Assault's multiplayer which has the potential to blow every other FPS out of the water

Well Quake Wars seem to have more of an objective-based approach. Sounds trivial, but its not.

It should actually have decent combat too - which is always nice.

that's where the similiarity ends ..play rtcw Enemy territory, you'll see what I mean. Enemy territory although a fps, shares little in common with most deathmatch/capture the flag style games. The mix of classes and objective gameplay (objectives MUST be met in order to advance/win) differentiates it from other fps. BF2 is only similiar in that it has vehicules, but I can say the same about Halo or UT2004 or any other numbers of games with vehicles.

I hated enemy territory. Probably because I despise the quake 3 engine, it just feels/looks/plays odd. But this is looking really good, much better than battlefield 2142 or whatever it is called. There are a lot of good games coming out this year, I think e3 is going to be intresting.

By all means, it could very well be very different from bf2. Hopefully it is, but the info that has seeped out so far is not encouraging to me.

you owe it to yourself to play Enemy territory (it's free) ..if you like mp fps you'll like the refreshing change of pace ET delivers ..played it exclusively for years

I'm so incredibly tired with css right now, so I might just do that.

the only similiariry between et and CS is that they both have guns

Well that and a hardcore community thats been playing them forever.

I really think this game will pwn the Battlefield series. Hard.
