Q about Gold and CE

Heres what comes with the CE:
Half-Life 2
Counter-Strike: Source
Half-Life 1: Source
Half-Life 2 T-shirt
Prima book sampler

And heres what comes with the Gold edition through steam:
Half-Life 2*

Arent alot of the things in the Gold edition kinda hard to release through Steam, on a PC? Like the hat, poster, stickers and so on?

I thought all those things would come with CE. And now i am sad ;( and a bit cross with valve :angry:

Please correct me if i'm mistaking about what the Gold steam offering is. :angel:
 
Why? For giving you more stuff? For all we know Vivendi decided what was in the Collector's Edition.

dude, why get mad? buy the gold, screw the CE, I say VU doesn't deserve the money.
 
I was thinking about that too, and how Valve's planning to ship them to so many people... My guess is A: They talked Vivindi into it, or B: They hooked up with some other company that has the resources to do that.

Oh well. I guess we'll find out.
 
Yeah I’m’ a little mad to but ill just wait for more info before coming to any conclusions (Like this info posted on the steam web site and all the pricing information)
 
Bit of a pitty, I won't buy the game via Steam, but I'd like the things the gold gets..
Ah well.
 
Valve already have T-Shirts and posters that they give away to people. It's just a matter of packaging them and shipping them.

That has to be alot of extra cost to deliver all that out. You think it's a probleme that i leve in Norway?

They alos could send a few of those things to retailers and give us a code when we purchas the gold thingy that we can to give them to get the things

It'll be extra cost but that'll be covered in the gold editions price.
 
What is "Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam"?
 
I just hope Valve don't go down one of those 'your billing address must be in the US' routes for the Gold option, because I'm prepared to go for it if they can deliver to the UK for the extra stuff.
 
Maby a hostory book about them, of a cataloge where you can order there previous games and stuff, maby.

I think they probably mean there's a subscription plan attached to the Gold purchase as an option.
 
Will we be able to buy the gold version through steam using the monthly payment method? I mean, wouldn't that be pretty damn cost-effective compared to paying, say, $80 right away?
 
In fact, I'll email Valve and see if I can get clarification on the possibility of the Gold option through Steam being available to those outside of the US.

That means you get the Premier Pack + (I'm Assuming as it's getting old now) CS:CZ as well.
 
Eh, don't be cross with Valve, KingPing. From a logical, business standpoint, they made the perfect move. They're offering a better package than VU can, and will make that much more money because of the decision. Already there's an amazing response to the Gold package, as most polls show that the majority of people will be purchasing through Steam because of tonight's news.

I'd imagine, since many of the items in the Gold version are physical, a monthly subscription is probably off the cards for all Source/Half-Life 2 products. I'd imagine the chance of a subscription (if there is one) will apply to Valve's previous efforts before Source.
 
I wonder, do you think they will ship stuff to the UK? Cus i really really want the posters, the hat sounds kinda allright but Im not a hat kinda girl, as it will most likley by a baseball style hat.

Anyone knows which edition does the ATI coupon give you?

Because all that the ATi Coupon holders are entitled to according the coupon itself is the HL2 retail package. That means basic HL2 retail, which is what the Bronze is basically. You aren't entitled to HL:S or DoD:S in the Silver, so there is no reason to give that to you.

Hmm, I'd imagine that they would ship to the UK. We may have to pay extra for shipping, though. Which won't be much extra because of the exchange rate.

I think I'm going to be severally disappointed with the hat. I'm expecting a top hat with a Half-Life 2 logo on it.

Yes, but Coupon holders can buy the game to, right? Or are they forced to only use the coupon by some secret combine agentcy?! :eek: :x

though it does say something on valve if they are going to give ati coupon holders that bronze edition, they know theyll have to buy a silver or retail of some kind
 
Are you guys sure that CE even will be avilible thru Steam? To me it sounds like just the software will be sold on Steam..

Bet its just a normal black cap with logo. And zombi arms out on the sides. With a headcrab on top! OMG! A HEADCRAB HAT!(with holes in the front that you can look through, so you could put it over your head) THAT would so kickarsh! :cool: ................AND, dobble the sales of the package it came with :naughty:

I can't wait to buy the Gold edition! I'm looking forward to it's contents! Thou I need to make a new steam account, since I already got the ATI coupon thingy.

if i dont get my hl2 tophat, hl2 monacle and hl2 cigarette holder, im am going to be ROYALLY ANNOYED my good chum. tally ho.
