Does anyone know where i can get the quake sounds, and how to install it? is it a mod or what, i have mani admin on my server, and i want to install quake sounds, but i dont know how, ive used the search button, and searched google, can some1 help me out here?

Ugh... I hate when servers use quake sounds, completely destroys the game.

I like it when the server has the option to turn sounds on or off (along with other crap) by typing something like "settings" or "sounds."
Usually I have all that turned off though.
The one thing I hate is when they have stupid TK punishment options, like making the player explode, killing half the rest of the team anyway :frown:

I don't know anything about managing a server but if you're going to put quake sounds on there, you should make sure there's an option for the player to turn them of :)

I made a program that just went in my steam sounds folder, and changed every annoying sound to a blank .wav or.mp3. I saved around 300MB, and don't hear any of the annoying sounds.

Why the hell is everyone calling them quake sounds? They're from Unreal Tournament! ;)

No, they're from quake, which came out before UT and had these sounds.

Rofl, you're tellign me UT ripped its sounds off Quake?

What sound are from Quake?

headshot, double kill etc., rampage, unstoppable, godlike, first blood, dominating - those I could remember; they're from UT.

I've played quake for over 6 years now - no they are not. The ones from Quake are 'prepare to fight', 'exelent', 'humiliation' and 'impressive'. The rest is from UT.

Every server I ever join has those stupid sounds

Add
Code:
cl_downloadfilter "nosounds"
to your config.cfg

Delete your custom sounds. Voila, you will never hear them again.
Edit: any custom sound, that is.

Thanks, nice tip. :)

While we are on the subject, how do you play custom sounds? Like some guys will randomly bust out the "whores in the city" or "MOVE" or "who ate all the donuts" and I don't feel as cool because I can't do it. :/

The fact that it uses a modified Quake 1 engine (there were no such sounds in Quake 1 anyway) doesn't mean it's using sounds from Quake.
Yeah...I probably should've been more specific, quake *engine*, not the game itself.
But w/e, quake sounds it is called to this day.
