I backed up my copy of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, perfect copy so I wouldn't have to worry if it got smashed or scratched to hell. I tried installing it a few days ago, installed great! but, when I tried playing it, it said that I had to have the original in the CD drive to play it.. so what's the point in making a backup?
I have the same beef with FarCry, although I did like the fact that it said on the box that if you had CD copying software it wouldn't play. I can understand if the CD backup software was illegal, but if it's legal then how can these companies say, "if you want to play our game, then you have to uninstall such and such software"? It's like buying a car and then having it stop in the middle of the freeway because you put in a CD-R of your backed up copy of a CD you own... it's perfectly legal, at least in the U.S. to copy your music, movies, and software at least once for backup purposes, or am I wrong? :frown:
