Question about doom 3's lighting

So i got the game today , its good its fun , but i honestly thought it would be better , ok my question is when I shoot with a a weapon there is no light the flashes up , it stays dark , which sux coz i cant see if i am hitting the monster or not , so ne1 know how i can get this light to flash ? thanX

Your question could probably get a better answer in the Doom 3 forum that was set up.

As for me, I do not own it, but I have seen the effect in screenshots. I dunno what's wrong.

it should do that automatically, also the cursor will turn red if you've hit something (i.e: Zombie)
