Most games today are taking 2 to 5 years to make, and well games in the past took less of course. But the question is, will gaming industry ever be able to make games faster, say 1 year, because well I was wondering with the unreal 3 engine out, and doom 3 engine, medal of honor: ps engine if im right, and also half-life 2 engine, and the upcomming stalker engine, will games be produce faster because im sure those engines are going to be avialible to the gaming industry. It seem that when 2000 and 2001 hit, all the games that were being produced where trying to invent there own engine, so when they came out around this time it would be nice looking. So are game going to continue to make brand new engines non stop, and take 2 to 5 years for it to finally be release or is there going to be a time spand where there going to take a break from making new engines and use the one new engines that are avialiable to us today for a while, and maybe make games faster. Is this possible?? :)

Yep. It's looking like there'll be a hell of a lot of mooching offa other people's engines in the future :)

Doubt it, most games want to have their own engine now adays, expect a game to take as long to make as any good movie.

What good movie takes 6 years to make?

The Lion King? Only one that came to mind.. and it was a ripoff of that Akimba Japanese anime thing.. :| lol

But hopefully smaller gaming industries will be able to get back into business, because right now it pretty much only big industries that make games, and usually it the good game. Hopefully there will be a gap sometime soon when there will be so many engines that games can now focus more on gameplay then graphics because it will already be there for them, and get it out to the public faster i hope, yea i know big industries mostly want there own engine, but that cost alot of money, hopefully they will settle down, and hurry up.
