I was wondering about how I would turn a GeCube X1800GTO into a GeCube X1800XL.

Do I just flash the current BIOS with one from a Gecube X1800XL and overclock?

i think the only x1800gto's that unlock are the ones with 5 memory chips. someone correct me if im wrong

You will have to research and see what company is making X1800GTO cards with X1800XL chips by disabling 4 pipelins. You won't be able to just flash the bios and unlock the pipelines if it isn't the correct chip.
What giant said above might help. Look around online and see what card (MSI, Sapphire, etc) other people seem to be having success flashing to X1800XLs.
But yes, then you just flash the bios of the card.

It might be a good idea to have a PCI video card on hand. Incase flashing the X1800GTO messes up then you can use the PCI video card to get back into windows and fix your X1800GTO with the original bios.

Alright, thanks.

[EDIT]: Just found this article.

The resistors on the die package are located in the same manner on all Radeon X1800 chips, so it seems to be impossible to turn on the disabled hardware subunits by re-soldering. The subunits are probably disabled by means of melting the internal fuses, so BIOS updates are unlikely to have any effect.

Damn Depressing. :'(
