I'm getting a 7900GT tommorow over my crappy old 9600Xt (shudders).

Now, if I plugged the nvidia card into the mobo and turned the pc on would it work or do I have to uninstall the ATi drivers before hand?

I used the DH Drive Cleaner and it worked fine.

Banana.

You're so ignorant, God.

I wouldn't be so sure the card would work at all. The 9600XT is an AGP card, meaning you have an AGP graphics slot on your motherboard. The 7900GT is a PCI-express card. You need a PCIe x16 slot on your mobo.

But generally, yeah, uninstall the ATI drivers, install the Nvidia drivers without rebooting the pc, then just shut the pc off and switch the card.

He makes a good point with the whole agp/pci-e remark.

And somehow I didn't know that? Thanks anyway.

Well, it would be about on the same level as thinking leaving dead drivers installed with a different make of graphics card is alright. Yes, you should remove them, and then use a catalyst software remover to be safe.

well if you dont have an asrock motherboard then you would have to format anyways if your switching motherboards so it wouldnt matter uninstalling all the drivers.
