Question about memory

I feel like a tool for posting this, but the search button didn't really answer my question.

At all times, Steam is using 53,356K of memory. That's not what other people are reporting, and it's not doing anything that should up the resources. It's just idling. It hasn't been running for a long time, I just booted it up fifteen minutes ago. Anyone know what's up?

Well I feel like less of a noob now that a mod's having the same problem. Still no answers, though.

If you're preloading I'm not really surprised it's using more RAM. That makes sense. But you're preloading at half the resources I'm idling at, which doesn't make sense.

I'm idling at 49K. Idled on 53K the other day. It's waaaay to much if you ask me.
