Question about website construction..

A friend of mine is having a problem. She pays this lady to take care of her website she has. That person has disappeared. She doesn't know what domain it's using, the login/password, anything but the web address. Is there anything I can do to help her, or is she in dire need to contact her? She said she paid the lady for everything, so my guess is that it's all in the AFK ladies name. Might be hard for her to get anything.....any suggestions? She needs to change a few things on her site.

who is hosting it? find out and contact them, they'll give you all the info you need ...so long as your friend is the person paying for the web space

Who's name is it registered under? If it's under the women who disappeard I don't know of much you could do.

Yeah, I was telling her there isn't much she could do. Her contract is about to expire *the 16th* and I told her to think about having somebody else more trustworthy work on it.

you could tell her to make a backup of the site using websnake or some other app like it (or copy the files if she has ftp access) then wait for the contract to expire and get a new plan.
