Question on system req.

Will my laptop with an intel 945 video card work with either half life 2 or CSS?

well im pretty sure everything else will pass already,

intel core duo 2350 @ 1.86 ghz
1 gig ddr2 667
mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GU Express Chipset Family (224 MB)

I wanted to play bf2 or bf2142 but neither of them work with my graphics.

HL2 is designed to work on low-end systems. That card should work on both, even though it's an integrated (i.e. lame) one. Though I wouldn't expect full settings.

well it works, but i think that a mixture of crappy windows vista (resource hog) and crappy intel 945 integrated card are really slowing down my game lol

stress test for css = 11.something fps. even on low settings css seems unplayable which is too bad.

hl2 seemed playable for some reason tho, on low settings. not sure exactly why css sucks so bad. but what i really wanted was css. oh well :/

oh btw anybody know the command for the fps from you console?

CSS (oddly enough) uses more processing power than HL2, I think it's because the bots are more advanced.

And it's your own fault you're using Vista. Duel boot, man!

Try running the game in DirectX 8.1. mode:

Left-click on the Steam tray icon.
Select "Games".
Click on the "My Games" tab.
Right-click on the game that you want to run in DX8 mode.
Select "Properties".
Click on the "General" tab.
Click on the "Set Launch Options" button.
Put in the window box: -dxlevel 81 (if this does not work, attempt -dxlevel 80 or even -dxlevel 70)
Click "OK".
Click "Close".

bf2 or bf2142 willl not work at all. it requires a gf 5700 or a radeon 9550 card to run.

Yeah, and your processor's a little slow for the game. Isn't the minimum 2.1 ghz or somethin? I had a faster processor than that on my old computer, and it still wouldn't work right. :/

well my processor is dual core and should be fine. hl2 and garry's mod run pretty well. css not matter what settings i put on it gets 10 fps, it recommended all high settings at first so i put them down and at all low settings it give me the same fps.

doesnt matter what the resolution is either...

Duel core support currently isn't in the Source engine. Wait, however, it should be present and accounted for by the end of the year.
