I'm debating about getting another gig of ram (would be 4x 512 total) making it 2gigs. Thing is, Should i keep the 1gig and have dual channel, or should i get another gig, which would put it in single channel?

1gig DC vs 2gigs single channel. whats better?

btw I have pc3200 corsair XMS

2 gigs is overkill guy, I wouldent waste the money.
1.5gig is just fine for another year or so.

Anyway, it's always better to use as few channels as possible, for performance. Though using multiple channels dosent really dip performance too much at all.

What system do you have? On most desktop systems filling up the slots can make it run at a slower speed or latency. IMO the only real way to go to 2GB is with 2x1GB sticks.
1GB should be fine for games for awhile yet.
