I am on a router, and all my computers are connected to the internet via a wired network. However, there is a wireless capability on the router. I want to utilize a laptop for wireless sometimes, and would like to know hot to accomplish this.

Do I just put a wireless card into my router, and then enable the wireless access for the router?

Which security feature should I use? WEP? WPA-PSK?

I don't know what they mean.

What I do need to know is how much chance is there that people can get on my wireless network, from my neighborhood? I don't want anybody to be able to get on at all.

You can go here and listen to episodes 11 and 13 to find out all about this stuff, or read the transcripts. In short wep is not secure at all but wpa is, if you use a strong password. You can get uncrackable passwords here
