Edit: If not, what do you suggest I buy for cheap money? my top is 250$

Yep, but it's going to get old in a few years. Try to wait a bit more and save up a little more cash and get a 9800 pro or a x800pro.

Would be worth waiting mate :)

The 9600XT is a spinky card, but not terribly futureproof

Alright... I'm currently stuck with a Geforce MX450 or something like that, and it's killing me.

1.82 ghz
512 mb RAM
Crappy graphicscard

New card enough or do I need to upgrade all of it?

I'd do all of it, but thats just me.

I think you could get away with 1GB mem and a new graphics card. The 9600 XT is a quality card, but like other are saying, it won't last you long.

With the newer cards, however, you can't go wrong. It's the biggest performance jump since the 9700 Pro came out. On either side, NVidia or ATi, you're gonna get a quality product. If I had two choices....I'd go with he ATi X800XT or the NVidia 6800 GT. The 6800 Ultra is HUGE and uses too much power IMO.

My personal choice was the 6800 GT. Might be a little pricey for some, but not the most expensive by any means. $399 gives you almost the performance of the Ultra for 100 less.

According to my shop, the ATI X800XT is cheaper than the NVIDIA 6800GT. But looking at Sidewinders estimation, I'm going to need some more thinking time on what I'm gonna buy, but thanks everybody for the alternatives!

Thats impressive....that being the case, by all means, get the X800XT.
