quick question about buying on steam.

is it possible to purchase a product thru your steam account on one computer but do the downloading on another computer(same account) and how'd you go about doing this?

simply purchase then cancel the download and restart the download once on the other computer?(have never accessed my account from another computer so I'm not exactly sure how this stuff works)

yes the account works like any other account you have on the internet. like email and your forum account. it can be used anywhere.

it didn't work...I get back home and the ****ing thing isn't in my games list....why isn't my purchase showing up as "in account" on this computer? that's bullshit....so what now? I'm supposed to complete the download on my dad's computer...before I can get the thing to show up? will it ever show up? doesn't this problem completely defeat the purpose of what steam was meant to do? e.g. being able to log onto your account from anywhere and play the games you've bought!? AARG! I was looking forward to being able set it to download tonight when I got back home and then play in the morning...ffs...

atleast it's one of the first times I've got problems with steam...but god it's annoying...just hope there's an easy fix or I'm going to be mighty annoyed...

Be calm, it should be working fine, but it isn't. Have you tried logged out, then back in? Sure you are logged into the correct account?

ok it seems that the magic "delete-the-client-registry-blob-file"-trick worked...

really every single problem I've had with steam seems to stem from this file...Valve should consider having steam automatically download this file every time you start steam...I'm sure it will save a lot of headaches from customers aswell as customer support....

better yet since I already have HL2 installed on this machine the download sizze was 2 gig instead of 5 as it was on my dad's computer, which also means that the download is already at 59%(I might play it tonight...but I dunno)
