Quick question (Flashlight not working)

Hi, I noticed that in another thread on this forum, someone mention that their Flashlight was not working on both half life 2 and ep2.

These three commands(?) were also mentioned:


r_dynamic 1
r_shadows 1
r_newflashlight 0

Do I have to enter these on the half life 2 ingame cashe, in which case will I have to input them everytime I want to play HL, or is there an easier way of doing it.

Despite the onboard graphics, the game works fine on the medium setting.

your onboard video card is heavily outdated, you might need to look into a video card if you computer can support it.

You can run Episode 2 on that?

Haven't tried episode two yet, but yeah Half life 2 runs perfectly.


Giant: Is it possible to put a video card into a computer with onboard graphics? If so, how would I go about finding the right model?

Sorry to ask questions, but I'm not exactly a 'pro gamer', hence the crappy machine and very old graphics card.
