I quit from my job and the place of my work will remain nameless. superstore canada. That is the worst job I've ever had..on top of that, it's the nightshift. Go to work a 11:30PM and I am supposed to work to 4:30AM. Thing is the supervisor has to let you out of the store. I am supposed to be off a 4:30 and he forces me to stay and work until 7:00AM. That's Bull****. That's also against the law. They can't make you work more than your schedualed for. They can ask you if you would like to, but they can't force you. My job was extremely exciting (very sarcastic). I stocked shelves. I hate anything to do with Grocery or food. The people I worked with were also annoying. Apparently the history of the store has been pretty bad since other employes over the years also complained of bad working conditions and making you stay longer than your supposed to. Thank god that's over. Well...off to find another job.

Morrison's supermarket in England is far, far worse then you're worst nightmares could ever imagine...

go to the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint ..here's the link

they are not allowed to force you to stay beyond your scheduled hours ...also if you've worked more than 44 hrs in a week you are entitled to overtime pay ..which is reg time + half

the BBB is brutally swift and efficient ..they'll fine them thousands of $ if found guilty

follow the link to your specified town/province

Well im thinking of quitting one of my jobs right now too. Its a banquet hall where I work as a server and arrive usually around 3:00pm and leave 3:00am. Sometimes they will make people work until 4:00am and then schedule their next shift to be at 8:00am the same morning (completely illegal). The job itself is just a constant nerve wracking will-destroying rush of "serving" the guests while carrying 10-12 large heavy hot plates loaded with food too them while smiling the whole time and being their bitches for the night. Once they leave its a dirty long cleanup job. I get $9.00CND but I found out that other banquet halls where people work the same hours and do the exact same work get paid nearly double that as a starting pay.

Hopefully you find something better.

hey I worked at a banquet hall ...well over 15 years ago but ya ..they treat their employees like crap ...servers make next to nothing ..I was bar staff and only tips made it worthwhile

get a job in a bar ...you can make triple that on tips alone ...the servers I worked with at a sports bar made on average $100 in tips in a 5 hour shift

Today was the first day of work. I got to stocked shelves, make bread and clean up some stuff.

I don't have to stay late or anything, but I don't get paid so much neither :(

The bar staff where I work don't have such a bad job. They still get paid the same and always have a couple hours where the rush is really bad but they are pretty independant of management which they really like. I just wish I got tips though that would be really nice.

go to a bar man ...shifts are far shorter plus tips ...a friend of mine worked at an upscale restuarant lunchtime only ...there were times he'd make $250 in one lunch shift ..it's the business guys who come in with clients who spend big bucks for lunch

hmm... Well I have a good friend who is a bartender so I guess i'll see what he says. Thanks for the advice.

I remember when i worked at Pizza Hut, possibly the skankiest million pound company i've ever worked for...you were allowed staff food at the end of a 5 hour shift, so to get around giving anyone food they used to put you on 4 hr 45 minute shifts. When you did manage to get some food, you were allowed the smallest kids pizza only, with a maximum of 4 toppings, i.e. one per slice. If you had 5 they kicked off big time. Stupid stupid place.

wait ...my friend was the server not the bartender ...the bartender made far less as it wasnt that kind of upscale restuarant

I was first suprised, but remembered that western companies don't have the "Employee = family = company" thing

hmm well tips would still be good as well as shorter hours. I don't think I will end up doing it anyway, i'll probably try working in retail instead.

My last job I had made me feel like I was part of a family. I worked at a casino and it was the best job I ever had. The supervisors were awesome, the people were awesome and the shifts were really, really good. I think I'll try that again..but my brother is working there now and I hope they allow family to work there.

What happened to that job? Did you quit or get fired?

I had to quit because of school. Now that I'm done school and waiting for my Diploma to come in..I'll give that a try again.

i just got a new job last week, selling computers at "Laptop Depot". Sell refurbished, lease back and test PC's for low prices, and fix PC's in the store as well. I've only worked there for 3 days and quite frankly, I hate. I really really hate it. Selling isn't my thing I guess, probably because I don't care about people and they tend to piss me off, a lot. I want a new job really really really really bad.

My supervisor at the work I had last summer told me I did not taken enough breaks

What type of people generally buy laptops from the said "Laptop Depot". I can't imagine the best business men come in there..

regular ppl pretty much, the lower end systems are bought just for going on the internet and basic shit really, the laptops blow in my opinion. there are nice higher end systems like the HP pavilion with 1 gig of RAM, P4 3.6 GHz, ATI x600, XP media edition, 17" wide screen, its hottttttt. but yeah not the greatest people, the job sucks and I want out, I'm seriously considering quitting right now lol
