Racing games

Hey guys, what are some of the better racing games for the PC? Not looking for something that would take hours to race but would be a good challenge. Perfer track racing over street but it doesn't matter what type of cars.
Either the more realistic racing or stuff more like how NFS plays.

GTR perhaps?
Ultra realistic racing-simulator and offers quite a good challenge.
I would recommend using a steering wheel though.

The best driving simulator out there right now. S2 even has full body damage which is pretty amazing (better than anything out there like Flatout's damage). You will probably want a wheel though, even on an analogue joypad the turning is a little twitchy, but definately still playable.

You can download the full game from the site, but only 1 track and 3 cars are available until you buy it online. The track graphics are really nice too.

Either GTR or LFS, both are realistic and challenging, and well...a little graphically dated, but purty enough for me

Yup, Live for Speed for teh win!

Those guys are developing it off their own bat, so it's quite amasing the quality such a small dev team has created. It just goes to show what can be done without selling out to a publisher.

Yeah it's from LFS. Sometimes the cars don't look too nice since they're textured just with shades of colour chosen from RGB sliders, but this lets there be loads of different looking cars.

There are actual racing style textures to choose from too which look better than the plane colours, and you can also edit a .jpg and use that as your car's texture. I don't think other people can see it in multiplayer yet though.

gtr is very good, but the steering isnt great with my slightly broken controller. i hope my ps2 wheel will work on the pc with a usb conveter, will try it tomorrow.

1. Hot Rod: American street drag
-fun game, with a ton of classic muscle cars to drag with.

2. Not availble anymore, but probably one of the most customizable car games ever... Motor City Online
-the best simulation to date i think. u could change every thing AND I MEAN EVERYTHING on your car... from your valve seals, to your bearing races. very fun when it was out.

3. Need for speed underground 1 & 2
-made "pimping out" cars extremly fun!

Yeah man MCO best car game ever imo too, it died so the team could make the need for speed underground series if im not mistaken.
