Yes... it's old :D

I am considering upgrading, but I can't decide if I should buy the 9800 Pro now, or wait till a future card is released (9900/10000?).

So, how would Half Life 2 run with:

1.7 P4
512 RDRAM
64MB Radeon 7200.

Cheers guys :)

The 9800XT is apparently going to be launched next month, they could knock the 9800 Pro down in price.

No no on full details...obviously the dx 9 visuals in particular. I'd wait till the 9800 XT comes out. Read reviews of it, see if its of a significant leap from previous 9800 cards to warrant you spending your hard-earned on it. Then look for dropped prices on the other 9700/9800 cards.

next month, thought they said this month? Cuz they said it would ship like 2 or 3 weeks after the alcatraz thing in GREAT Quantity, sounding like they will have a few for the 30th.

If a mod could move this to te correct forum, sorry. :)

Hmm, I think I will see how it runs at first, and if I cant play it i'll either order a 9800XT (or Pro, depending on reviews, prices etc).

Oh.. wasn't there going to be a price drop for ATI graphics cards in November?

I only have a geforce 4 mx but I will probably buy the Radeon 9800XT bundle next month.

Well (and this is coming from the guy that wants the 256 version) wasnt the "demos" running on a 128 9700? or 9800? The 9800 are less then 200 US on Pricewatch.

buy a radeon 9700 and overclock it to pro speeds and beyond. thats what i did. works great

I have a 9200 256Mb radeon. I have no idea how well its gonna work with Half Life 2. Battlefield looks good tho.

why did you buy the 256 model?

Chances are the highest it'll run is at least 15 FPS. You'll need to upgrade.

I presume you are talking about my CPU...

Once I get a new graphics card, a CPU is next on the list ;)
