radeon 9700 pro still a good card?

you can get the 9700 pro $169 on price watch. is this a near as decent card as the 9800 pro. the 9800 pro costs $201 with 256-bit memory, the ones with 128-memory are cheaper.

Hmm..my friend had a 9700 pro that he had madly overclocked, and he scored around a 17,200 in 3dmark01. His mom just recently ruined it by turning on his pc without turning on the water pump, and it friend. She bought him a 9800 pro and he now gets in the high 18s. I'd suggest just getting a 128 meg 256 bit version of the 9800 pro.

9700PRO is a very competent card for running HL2. For the money though - might as well bump up to a 9800PRO or a 6600 Nvidia.

For 150$ you can get a nice 9700 Pro AIW version off Ebay...more features than a 9800 pro and decent enough performance comparison for price
