radeon 9800 pro 8x/4x???

I have an AGP 4x slot and plan to upgrade my graphics card to either a radeon 9600xt or 9800 pro (if I can get the money)
Both these cards seem to require either 8x/4x agp or just 8x.

Will the card work. does 8x/4x mean either 8x or 4x or is that another type of slot.

Or will the the 8x work in a 4x?

Id appreciate any help

the 8x is backwards compatable with the 4x so no problem there it will work. i have x4 slot and both them cards work very well in it
