Sorry about starting a new thread on graphics cards but, im getting a powercolor radeon 9800 pro 128mb

and ive heard that they are a bit of a bitch when it comes to heat levels. i was wondering of anyone could recommend what sort of cooling i should buy..or even if i need any. my case is a piece of crap tbh and only has 2 fans on the back, with 3 lines of small holes along each side of the case near the top (soz about the crap description lol). i saw this fan on ebuyer.co.uk :

and thought it would do the trick. but will i be waisting the money?? will the thermal grease be enough?? im a n00b when it comes to heating so any help would be appretiated :)

If you are not going to overclock, stock cooling will be fine. GPU's are designed to handle heat much better than a CPU.

If you are going to overclock, I would recommend the Artic Cooling VGA Silencer Revision 3 (like what you have selected) and some Artic Silver 5.

kk thx. i doubt ill OC as im not experienced or brave enough atm. ill give it a try some day but not just yet. thx again. was starting to get worried as the card arrives 2moz lol (fingers crossed)

:dozey: Stock cooling is fine then, if you're not going to OC. I don't understand why a company would sell a card that had cooling so sorry you had to actually change it, that is including no OC.

ive read recently that the 9800 pro needs a bitch of a cooling system, or needs a good vent case. im worried now, as i have just got mine today, and want to know if i should stick with the stock cooling?? lol, the last thing i want is more heat in my case. i read that the 9800 pro radiates upto 80c after long periods of play..in a 22c room!!

I bought the Zalman ZM80C-HP VGA and ZM-OP1 Fan over a year ago, and I've had the card flashed since day one to radeon PRO and to XT for over a month now. It's cool, sometimes cold ;)

Installing it is a bit tricky though, because you have to remove the original heat sinks on the ram and on the gpu.

True for mine, my computer crashed very often. I got a 'artic cooling' cooler then. Now it works better, it probably was the initial cooler. It was crappy... ;)
