Radeon X300 or geforce 6600gt ?

i got new computer today, but i still havent chosen video card. i could get x300 radeon or nvidia 6600gt. Which is better? someone sayd that two are bad cards and they got same power :O

The 6600gt by far owns that pathetic x300. Get the 6600gt, its a really good card that can play HL2 max settings, Doom 3 on High (if you have 1gb of RAM), and it can also play FEAR but I'm not sure what the settings were when I last played fear with my 6600gt. Go for it man, the 6600gt all the way.

And also the 6600GT supports Shader Model 3.0. Will help if you dont plan on upgrading for awhile. And with TES: Oblivion

ok im with you guys. i take 6600gt.
I have AGP, yes thats true, but still i dont want to waste my money buying a new card, because seller gived to my two card to change my old ati radeon 9200 with ofcourse paying 50 bucks more. im not working and living with parent, going in school so do not ask me why i cant buy 6800gt.

Uhh, you read my post, right? Of the 3 games you mentioned I said HL2 can play with max settings. I never tried BF2 or Far Cry with my 6600gt so I didn't include those.

Yeah, Bf2 with max settings at that resolution is kinda off. I play at that resolution and to get lagless play I have to lower the the 3 lighting settings to meduim. And this is with a 7800gtx. So you might be able to get away with medium settings at 1024x786 with a 6600gt on BF2.

I have a XFX 7800GTX that came with BF2 and a 3500+ and I can play BF2 all high except lighting(medium). Though mine was factory overclocked some.... so maybe thats why.

Extra RAM really helps with BF2.
I can play everything on high.
