Im considering buying one of theese but im confused. There are so many types. Ive seen the words like platinum, saphire, and pro in the titles of the cards. Which one is the best, and what is the difference between them.

Platinum is the best. The clock speeds are the the difference in cards.

I wouldn't buy an x800 pro. Wait for the xl's to come out. I've seen them outperfore the x800 pro's in a few benchmarks and they are 100 usd cheaper.

well, the platinum yeah.

Im getting my geforce 6800 next week :)

edit: if someone reads this:

The XFX Geforce 6800 128 mb is good right? Or should i search for anpther manufactur?

Well, there are variations on the prefixes and suffixes. The prefixes are the 3rd party company that produced the card (some companies improve the card, while others just sell it exactly like the original ATi makes) and the suffixes denote which variation of the card it is. So it's:

[Company Name] x800 {Type of card}

Companies like Sapphire, Asus and Connect3D would be a good start to be looking at buying.

The types of the x800 are Pro, XT and XT-PE (or Platinum Edition). The XT-PE is better than the XT, and the XT is better than the Pro.

I've always liked XFX myself, MSI is good also since they have some pretty crazy bundles. I'm getting MSI 6800 GT soon :D :D

Is the difference between the 6800 128mb and the gt version very big, or a small overall improvement? Because for me its too expensive to buy a 6800 gt.

if u get a pro vivo from sapphire, u can flash it, thats what i did

I would say there's quite an improvement when looking at the 6800GT over the 6800 vanilla. You could probably find some benchmark sites like [H]ardOCP that can show you what I mean. However the 6800 vanilla is still a great card.

Does anyone Know the release date for uk, of the X800xl?
Also What price???
Iam mad interested!!!
Any other specs on it as well?

You can unlock the pipes, which is what I've done, and I gained 500 points in 3dmark03.
Hope this helps. :)

x800 XL is coming out this month, as annouced by ATI. They will run about $299 american. They have the x850 core on a .11nm process, not the .13. Should be decent OCers, and are already faster then an x800 pro which is $100 more. Wait a little while and get the x800 XL, itll beat anything in the $300 price range, plus great OCing probably.
